YPNV Ullambana – Yulan Pujas Event Update

Dear students, friends, and sponsors of YPNV,

We are pleased to inform you that the YPNV Ullambana – Yulan Pujas and activities on 17 and 18 August have been successfully completed. The 100 Peaceful and Wrathful Deities and Buddha Amitabha prayers were solemnly conducted by hundreds of monks both in Namdroling Monastery, South India and at our centre in Sri Petaling, Malaysia with thousands of lamps offered to the dearly departed and all Bardo beings.

A large Sanghadana was offered to Sangha community of monks and nuns of Namdroling Monastery. This practice originates from the Ullambana Sutra that describes the advice given by Buddha to one of his closest disciples, Maudgaly?yana on how to save his deceased mother from suffering in the hungry ghost realm through the power of merits generated from offering to a huge group of Sangha. Hence, this practice is one that emphasises filial piety and gratitude towards one’s parents and ancestors.

We thank all the Khenpos, Lopons, lamas, sponsors, volunteers, and students who wholeheartedly participated in these pujas and Ullambana – Yulan festival.

May all merits accrued from the weekend’s virtuous intention and deeds be dedicated to our deceased loved ones, all karmic debtors, wandering Bardo beings, and for the spiritual positivity of this world. ??????
